For
those of you who don’t know me and have stumbled upon this blog by curiosity or
happenstance, my name is Nancy Z. Thweatt. I was born into an Air Force family
in Smyrna, Tennessee at Seward Air Force Base. I spent the next 14 years moving
with my Dad, my Mom and my older brother, Bob. Perhaps this accounts for my
choice of vocation. While I like to travel, I don’t really like to move, I’ve
done enough of that for a lifetime.
When my
father left the military after 20 plus years we moved back to his and my
mother’s hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. I finished high school there and
attended the University of Tennessee. I graduated with a BA in Speech and
Theatre. One of my first professional jobs was running a carbon arc Super
Trouper followspot at the 1982 World’s Fair for the state show “Sing
Tennessee”. We operated like a touring company that never went anywhere. We struck
the production at the end of every day and put it back up every morning, seven
days a week.
In
August of 82 one of our sound guys had to go back to college and his
replacement was a handsome young man named Jim Thweatt. After clashing a bit,
which set the tone of our future marriage, we started dating. The rest is
history. We married on May 22, 1984.
I
currently live in Maryland with my husband, two of my adult sons and two adorable
looking hellion cats. My middle son and his wife escaped to Washington State. I
am envious.
